Chapter History
You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every chapter of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today. Read more about our chapters’ histories in Kappa's digital archives.
The Zeta Psi chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded at Wake Forest University on December 4th, 1993. Our chapter initially began as the local S.O.P.H. society, which was established on October 10th, 1956 by five undergraduate women and founded upon the ideals of honor, loyalty, and integrity. After thirty seven years of scholarship, fellowship, and philanthropic efforts, seventy seven charter members and five alumnae sought national affiliation with Kappa Kappa Gamma to enhance the organization and ensure its successful future.
Since our founding in 1993, Zeta Psi has initiated thousands of talented and inspiring members who are all bound together by friendship, leadership, and scholarship. Our chapter prides itself on our proactivity and commitment to philanthropy by giving back to our local community here in Winston Salem, and through our chapter-wide participation in campus events like Wake N’ Shake, Hit the Bricks and Project Pumpkin. Our members are diverse in interest and ability, and they are involved in a number of groups on campus including the Debate Team, D.E.S.K., Habitat for Humanity, the Dance Team, Best Buddies, and more. We are an ambitious, driven, diverse, and compassionate group of women that are united by our love of Kappa and our adherence to its values.
